Display situation

LG 24MD4KL-B monitor of three years has died, and I am now forced to use a spare low-res monitor. macOS, which does not do sub-pixel anti-aliasing, makes text blurry on non-retina screens. To be usable, switching to HiDPI resolution halves screen size, i.e. one-half of 1080p, which is forcing me to use apps full-screen.

Apple is pumping great Macs out at affordable prices, e.g., the mini starts at A$999. Yet, there is no equivalent in the displays it sells. So for now, there is only regret.

Update: BetterDisplay fixes the blurry macOS on non-retina displays. With this I gain 140% (>720p) in simulated HiDPI. As bonus, it enables both brightness and volume control directly via the keyboard for this BenQ GW2283. Except for the extra ports on the back, gaining all functions I think is great value.
